Titus from Fire and Flood by Victoria Scott

 

Titus isn't a main or recurring character in Fire and Flood, but he does pop up in the last 100 pages. He's definitely the villain of the series. He abuses his Pandora's, well gets his minion's to do it for him, and he treats people like shit. He's definitely a character you wish you had a giant rock to smack him over the head with. But then again, he's in the game to save someone he loves and you have to do whatever you can to survive.

 

 

Adolf Hitler from Prisoner of Night and Fog by Anne Blankman

 

Who wouldn't kill of Adolf Hitler? He's the most known villain in world history and there's no doubt that I'd love to drown him and kill him off. However, in this book he's not exactly the ruler of Germany. He's on his way to being on top and is also in a secret relationship with a niece (It may be second cousin, not sure).

 

 

Four and Caleb from Divergent by Veronica Roth

 

You all probably think I'd say Eric and Jeanine, but honestly, they're my favourite characters in the series. However, Four and Caleb are just plain annoying, irritating characters that I could see myself stabbing over and over and over. It's a pity that they both never died....

 

 

Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

 

Yeah, do I really have to explain this one? I hate the girl so much, and she's not even real. I just don't see how anyone can relate to her because she's boring. She has no personality and just comes across as stuck up and arrogant. It's sad she not got a spear to the heart during the Games.

 

 

Dolores Umbridge from Harry Potter by J K Rowling

 

I thought she was horrible in the movie, but apparently she's even worse in the book (I've not read it yet, sadly). Wouldn't it be cool if all her kittens inside the plates could move out of them, grow a thousand feet and eat her alive?

5 Books to Read this Spring

Reading styles change. And so does the seasons, so I thought I'd recommend 5 books that I think would be perfect reading for Spring.

Along For the Ride by Sarah Dessen

This book follows Auden, who wants to escape her boring life for the summer. She stays with her father and her new step-mother (Who are expecting a baby). There, at this seaside town, she makes new friends and finds love with a mysterious guy with a harbouring secret. I completely fell in love with this book. It was a cute, fluffy read that left me wanting more.

Angelfall by Susan EE

Angelfall is a YA post-apocalyptic novel that follows Penryn. Her disabled sister has been kidnapped by a group of Angels and her schizophrenic mother has gone off somewhere. All alone and needing to find her sister, she uses Raffe, a fallen angel who's injured to find where they're keeping her. But trust me, this book isn't what you think it is. It's dark, creepy and intense with a kick-ass protagonist!

Just One Day by Gayle Forman

I don't know what it is about Spring that makes me want to travel and visit the beaches, I just do. But Just One Day is literally perfect! We visit England, Paris, Boston and Amsterdam -  which are all amazingly described - and we have an earth shattering romance to compete with August and Hazel (without the cancer and death). I seriously couldn't put Just One Day down.

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

No one really want to read about school when it's sunny and warm, but Fangirl is a hilarious novel with Boy x Boy Fan Fiction. It follows Cath who's starting college with her twin sister, Wren. However, Wren wants to move on, be her own person, while Cath doesn't want anything to change. And then she meets her roommate and her best friend, Levi. And so starts their slightly awkward relationship.

Fire and Flood by Victoria Scott

Fire and Flood is probably one of the most unusual books I've read in a while. It's basically The Hunger Games meets Pokémon. The book focuses on Tella who's older brother has Cancer. She then gets the chance to enter the Brimstone Bleed: A 4 terrain competition. The winner receives the cure to any disease. I literally loved it. And the romantic interest is so......charming.

Review: Fire and Flood by Victoria Scott

Review:

I must admit that when I read the synopsis I did think it seemed a little to similar to The Hungers Games, but the actual difference is that I enjoyed this so much, while I (sadly) hated The Hunger Games.

I ordered this on a whim and started it the night it arrived out of curiosity. Once I started I could not stop....until I had to fall asleep. One of the unique things about this book is that the characters are flawed, they're not all perfect and ready made for the games. Tella was an absolute joy to read from and her curiosity towards everything really made her relatable, especially to me, since I don't always trust everyone and their actions.

Fire and Flood did surprise me. One minute I was reading about this town she was living in and the next I was transported to the weird world of the Games. So many process' and so many twists, when she had to choose her Pandora and all those people came out I let out a little shout of "Kill a bitch!" and that's never a good sign. The good thing is Tella did not, she was kind of scared.

When you're reading a book like Fire and Flood, you never want it to end. I took my time while reading this book, because it was so much fun. The Pandora's reminded me of watching Pokémon as a child and I guess that's why when Tella tried to protect Madox, I smiled. Their bond was beautiful and when it was revealed as to what he could do I was in utter shock. I'm pretty sure I was Tella at that exact moment. It was like seeing a baby all grown up.

What I liked so much about this book is that it may be a Dystopian, but it read like a contemporary. There were guy problems, friend problems, sleeping problems - literally. Ants. Big Ants! - and general murder problems.

No joke!

If you attend the Games then you've basically been signed up to be murdered.

It's a bloody battle. You're all out to win the cure, so you can make friends, but be prepared to be stabbed in the back...or stab someone in the back (not literally).

I'm not sure what is going to happen in the sequel, but I cannot wait to get my hands on it when it comes out. I need to know what's going to happen with Guy and Tella, but I also need to know who's going to win.

Overall, I can definitely say that I loved this book. It's four star worthy. So pick it up, read and then devour it because it's going to consume you whole.
